Two Bottles of Wine and a Squirrel

[Update: As of September 21st, voting in now closed. The winner by a country mile is photo #5 taken by Captain!]

Who knew you could have so much fun with two bottles of red wine and a squirrel?

One of the best things about our trip is just taking one’s time. It’s such a luxury, that in this busy world of ours, we are able to be entertained by a wee squirrel for hours on end! Just sitting quietly watching a squirrel going about its daily business of eating, twitching and darting here, there and everywhere.

We took lots of photographs: each trying to capture the best photo and be crowned ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year.’

So here they are – the best; edited down from about 503 photos! For those bright eyed amongst you you’ll notice there were in fact three squirrels – which we didn’t realise until the next morning!

Feel free to let us know the best photo 🙂

  1. Dad chooses number 1 followed by 5

Anni chose 3 and 2 as a dead heat. She approached this very seriously! Discounted others for , no complete tail ,presence of a human arm
The tails are unusually wide and flat
Look forward to finding out who has won . Is the prize the last bottle of red or has that been drunk.

  2. My vote is for 1 and then 3. The angle of 1 is fun and 3 is really just a classic squirrel photo. Love your work 😉

    1. Do you mean 2? The cup had red wine in it…if I’d been a second later the photo would have been of wine all over the squirrels face. Now that would have been the winner!

  3. Sorry if I’ve posted this message multiple times…I like #4 and #5 best. I suppose if I had to pick #5 because of the human interaction but then maybe #4 actual fits the category of ‘Wildlife Photography’ better??!

  4. When is the result going to be announced!
We are currently sitting on the terrace drinking a bottle of a very special Greek wine 13.8 per cent.!
Off to Kalamata tomorrow morning to find out if Anni can travel back to Melbourne next Tuesday .
    Lots of love
    Mum
